Year 11
School Leadership Team Introduction Assembly
This week our 2022 Student Leadership Team, via a video assembly led by our School Captains, Sophia Maxwell and Jack Murray, presented their Vision for 2022, ‘Mission Possible’. Our Principal, Mr Webber, had a cameo in the video, appearing as the Head of IMF (Impossible Missions Force), assigning the ‘mission’ to Sophia and Jack, should they choose to accept it. The School Captains explained their aims for the year, such as the importance of togetherness, making the most out of every opportunity, having a positive attitude, developing school spirit where everyone feels welcome and goals are supported, and most importantly to ‘have fun!’
Call to Earth Day
On Wednesday we recognised ‘Call to Earth Day’ where Yr 11 watched a video narrated by Sir David Attenborough ‘How to Save Our Planet’ and then discussed how humans have created a planet that is in danger of being destroyed, then having a whole year group debate online on how we can make Redlands more sustainable.
Mock Trial Competition
The Yr 11 Mock Trial team had a fiercely fought trial in the quarter finals this week against Shore. The case was a civil trial of bailment, under the Uncollected Goods Act, 1995, where Redlands represented the Defence, denying liability when the Plaintiff’s car was stolen from their premises. The trial went for 3 ½ hours and ended with a tie on points between the two teams. The Magistrate was then required to give one extra point to the team he decided should go through to the semi-finals, and Shore were declared the winners. Congratulations goes to the Redlands team who have competed to a high level throughout 2021, both face-to-face and over Zoom: Jack Murray, Charlotte Harman, Sophia Maxwell, Callum Wardman-Browne, Louise Colin and Sophie McMillan.
Have a great week!
