Year 10

Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone! Despite retuning to Remote Learning this week, it was pleasing to see all of Yr 10 adapt so well to their online zoom lessons for both subject lessons and tutor time. Ms Martin and I had the pleasure of zooming into Tutor Time sessions with each Tutor Group and the discussions taking place during that online space affirmed to us how resilient our cohort is as well as the importance of social interactions during this time. The conversations in this important pastoral space were meaningful, light-hearted and positive.

In Tuesday’s online Year Assembly, I highlighted the following points which I adapted from the ‘Reach-out’ website in regards to dealing with the constant COVID-19 changes:

  • Practise gratitude. As the rules change and life starts to open up again, practise identifying the things you are grateful for.
  • Speaking of friends, surround yourself with positive pals. Look for the silver lining.
  • Practising positive self-talk can also be a big help. Each week, write down one thing you like about yourself
  • Ultimately, the better you feel about yourself, the more likely you’ll be to find the good in any situation you face

Remote Pastoral Care Support

Tutors, Year Advisors, Senior Counsellors and the Chaplin are available as pastoral supports. Students can email these supports directly or through wellbeing@redlands.nsw.edu.au and staff will respond during school hours.

Our counsellors have also developed a pastoral support iLearn page with a variety of different resources, which can be accessed via iLearn. Many of these resources are also available on each Tutor Group page too.

For any academic remote learning support please get in touch with subject coordinators and for IT please get in touch with isupport.

Senior Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to all of Yr 10 for their participation at the 2021 Secondary School Athletics Carnival held in Week 9 last term.

It was great to see lots of participation throughout the day with students earning house points for their House Group. A full list of results will be included in next week’s Note Day. Photos of the comradery and House Spirit can be seen below:
