Welcome to Our New and Returning Students

We would like to warmly welcome the following five new and returning Yr 10 students to the Redlands:

Ms Eleanor Martin and I wish them well as they settle into the Yr 10 cohort and Redlands community. 

New Yr 10 Tutors

Yr 10 is privileged to have Dr Jane Sloan and Mr Jack Gooding join our Yr 10 Pastoral Team for 2021. Dr Jane Sloan is a highly experienced English teacher and will be joining Cowper Yellow. Jane will be replacing Yuji Okawa who has done a sensational job as the Cowper Yellow Tutor for the last three years.
Mr Jack Gooding is an experienced Rugby coach and Strength and Conditioning coach and will be joining Cowper Blue in replacement of Lucienne Willis who is taking on her new role as the Yr 7 Assistant Year Advisor.  

Communication

A reminder that subject related questions should be directed to your child’s teacher or relevant Subject Coordinator. If you are unable to find the necessary contacts, please contact your child’s Tutor who will be able to assist.

Online Canteen Orders

From the beginning of Term 1 2021, purchasing food from the Canteen will be via a pre-order system, Flexischools. While some snacks will still be available for students to purchase in person, the majority of meals will need to be pre-ordered via Flexischools using the app or website, prior to 8.30am. Parents and carers create a Flexischools account for their child via this link. 

Careers Testing and Parent Tertiary Education Information Evening

As part of the Yr 10 Careers program, Redlands offers a career assessment opportunity to all Yr 10 students. We encourage every student to participate as the results aim to help students with their subject selection for Yrs 11 and 12, as well as provide a great start for research into potential tertiary courses and future pathways after school.

On 1 February from 5.00-5.40pm, Careers Advisor, Ms Simone Salier will be conducting a Tertiary Education Information Evening via Zoom. Important information about the Tertiary Education and Careers program for Yr 10 will be covered. 

On Wednesday 3 February, Yr 10 will participate in a half-day careers testing session run by Dr Marian Kratzing, a Careers Psychologist and Director of Career Avenues. Dr Kratzing has developed a unique career profiling system which she and her colleagues provide to many independent schools in Sydney. Students will undertake the Careers Test via their laptops in Redlands Hall and will need to arrive at school at 8.15am on Wednesday morning with their personal laptops fully charged.
