Snowsports 2020 Update

Snow Australia is closely monitoring COVID-19 restrictions and as the season approaches, we will advise of any planned changes to the Interschool Snowsports events. We continue to be hopeful that the Australian snow season will proceed in one form or another and wait for confirmation from the Governments, Health Authorities and Resorts on whether Interschools events will run.
What we do know is that if there is a snow season it will be a very different one to what we are used to and we will need to modify event formats and adhere to social distancing measures, public gathering guidelines and travel restrictions. We are considering the opportunities this situation brings us to simplify and trial some alternative processes and rules intended to improve the event entry and participation experience for students, parents and school coordinators.
We are currently reviewing qualification rules for the late August Subaru NSW, ACT, QLD State Championships and the early September Subaru Australian Championships, and will announce these when finalised.
Redlands Snowsports
As you can see from the latest communication from the Interschools everything is still on hold for Term 3. Resort operators are still awaiting Government Health directives and can give no clearer picture. Everyone would have been excited to see web cams of the recent snow falls in the resorts but at this time the National Park is still closed and sadly, all school holiday race events have been cancelled. As Australia seems to be doing a great job in controlling the spread of the virus, we can only hope more restrictions are lifted in line with the exciting return of students to school over the coming weeks.
If you could envisage at this time your child competing in State Championships then it’s very important from our planning (if you haven’t already) that they are registered on https://trybooking.com/BIDNY asap. It will be a very rushed effort from our part so we would appreciate your help. We are also still waiting on entry criteria for State but I will let you know.
Decisions around all July holiday programs at HCC will be advised as soon as possible. We need more information as the main consideration is Government Policies and the opening of the resorts.
If anyone requires a refund for financial reasons, please contact me and I’ll organise the transfer.
