Football

Round 1 of the Football Season was a competitive round for many of the Redlands teams. The Girls side of the competition had a clean sweep winning games in the Junior A, Junior B, Inter A and 1st Girls. The Boys Football teams also had some great results against St Pius, who are traditionally one of the strongest teams in the competition, with wins in the 13A, 15A and 2nd Boys competitions.

Best of luck to all teams this week in Round 2 on Saturday 8 May. A reminder that the fixture details are available on Redlands Pulse under the “Redlands Rhino (FIXTURES)”

Hockey

Congratulations to Sophie McMillan on her selection into the Open Girls Hockey team to compete in the NSWCIS Hockey Championships later this term.

Best of luck to all teams this week in Round 2 on Saturday 8 May, the fixture details are available on Redlands Pulse under the “Redlands Rhino (FIXTURES)”. We will have two teams travelling to Oxley this weekend (1st and Junior Girls), all parents will need to have completed the bus permissions on Redlands Pulse for this trip.

Netball

We had a great round 1 for Redlands Netball this past weekend with a number of teams having some impressive first up victories. Our Senior 2nd team looked red hot against Barker College and look like a chance to sit atop the Division 3 competition for this season. Our Jnr A team also had a strong showing against St Andrews Jnr 1 this past weekend, they will look to build on this form when they take on the much fancied Barker College Jnr A team.

A reminder to all students and parents to ensure you check the “Redlands Rhino (FIXTURES)” each week (it is updated every Tuesday), it will have the most up-to-date details for the weekend fixtures.

Those playing at NBISC this weekend a reminder of the following:

  • 2 spectators per player
  • players are to meet their coach out the front of the venue
  • spectators are to remain socially distant when seated
  • players and spectators are to exit the courts they are playing on (EXIT doors are on each court)

Those who are playing away are reminded to following the COVID protocols for each school.

Rugby

The Redlands Rugby 2021 Season kicked off in tremendous fashion over the weekend with tough, physical matches for our Under 14s, Under 15s and Opens side containing a number of our strong Under 16s Squad.

The standard of rugby across all matches was fantastic with some incredible individual tries mixed in with some brilliant team attack. Special mention must go to Samuel Chubb who was best on ground for the Opens match. Sam has come so far as a player since his first season three years ago and I cannot wait to see him continue to run out in the 1st XV Jersey in the future.

For this weekend, Redlands will see the return of Scots All Saints to our Home Grounds. Match times will be as follows.

Redlands Under 13s vs Scots All Saints Under 13s – 10:00am – Campbell Field
Redlands Under 14s vs Scots All Saints Under 14s – 11:00am – Campbell Field
Redlands Under 16s vs Scots All Saints Under 16s – 12:00pm – Campbell Field

It would be great to see the same crowd we had last week, especially for our Under 13s as they kick off their season. Look for Henry Preece to be leading out his side with pride for his first official game as Captain.

I would like to make a special note of congratulating our four boys who trialled for the ISA Under 16s Representative Team. Finn Woodward, William Pearson, Joshua Hicks and Hugo Scott were all brilliant on the day, loving the physical challenge of playing alongside and against boys from Rugby powerhouses such as Kinross, Stannies and Oakhill. Teams will be announced early next week, so, until then, fingers crossed we see our boys wear the Black and Gold of ISA.

Sailing

Congratulations to our Sailing teams which finished in 6th place out of 24 teams at the recent NSW Secondary School State Championships. A more detailed report will be provided in next week’s Note Day.

Tennis

Saturday was the first round of competition for all tennis students. Our ISA students played against Oakhill. The matches were very tough and points had to be earned. Unforced errors were the difference between winning and losing games in many of the matches. It was great to see all students trying their best at all times and enjoying themselves. In our Redlands Saturday morning competition many students played their first ever game of tennis.
