Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize
Primary to High School
Film applications close 3 May 2019
It’s time for students with a passion for Science to share their ideas and stories to fellow future scientists of Australia. Sponsored by the University of Sydney, the Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize is a national Science film competition for primary and high school students. Encourage your students to take part in this “edutainment” video challenge and have fun in the process!
The National Youth Science Forum from Matilda Williams
During the summer holidays, I was lucky enough to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Canberra. The NYSF is a 12 day residential program designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields as well as to encourage young people in their passion for Science.
Their programs show the wide variety of engaging, rewarding and inspiring study and career options available in Science, Technology and Engineering fields. Their flagship program is the NYSF Yr 12 Program, which runs in January each year for students about to enter Yr 12.
Attending the NYSF was an amazing experience that changed my life and helped me with big decisions which the current Yr 11s are facing (such as what to do after leaving school?), as well as also giving me an experience of university life, getting to stay in one of the residential colleges in ANU.
For more information on this once in a lifetime science program visit their website.
