Extra Subjects Music Tuition Concert Series

Over this past week, Music tutors have been hosting various studio concerts on the Junior Campus. These concerts are designed to provide family and friends with the opportunity to celebrate in their child’s musical achievements throughout the year and also meet with the tutors. Concerts will continue to be held next week on the Junior Campus and then move to the Senior Campus in Week 6.

Parents and guests are reminded to sign in at the Preparatory, Junior School and Secondary School Offices prior to attending these concerts.

• Junior Campus Series – Monday 4 – Friday 15 November (Weeks 4 and 5)

2020 Private Music Tuition

If your child is leaving Redlands or you wish to discontinue lessons, please complete and return a Notice of Change form available on Redlands Pulse or Music Reception. It is important to be aware that there is a $250 late/administration fee as per the four week notice period, for any discontinuations received after Monday 11 November 2019.

2020 Musicianship Classes

Students who are currently learning an instrument and who would like to further extend their knowledge of Music Theory are encouraged to join one of the Musicianship Classes. Enrolments are now open.

• Junior Campus – Tuesday (7.30-8.15am)
• Secondary Campus (AMEB Grades 4-6) – Tuesday (7.30-8.15am)
• Secondary Campus (AMEB Grades 1-3) – Thursday (7.30-8.15am)

Ensemble Participation, Attendance and Punctuality at Rehearsals

A reminder that regular, punctual attendance at all Music Ensemble rehearsals is imperative as students are underway in preparing for end of year events. In the event of absence, parents are required to email juniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au for Junior Campus Ensembles and seniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au for Senior Campus Ensembles.

Music Elective Soirée Concert

The Music Department would like to commend all musicians from the Yr 10 Music Elective who presented repertoire for assessment at the Soirée Concerts throughout this past week. The students were very well-prepared with both their solo repertoire and self-devised ensemble performances, and confidently presented in front of family and friends in the Edwards Auditorium. Designed as a student led event, we commend both classes on their developing skills as musicians as well as various other roles including compering, sound operation, lighting and stage management. The opportunities of working in a purpose-built performance facility like the Edwards Auditorium is certainly providing students with real life experiences in developing and delivering a polished music concert.

Thank you to our class teachers Mr Castelli, Mr Kuilenburg and Mr Owen for their wonderful guidance and mentoring of the students in the Yr 10 Music Elective classes throughout this year. Thanks is also extended to our exceptional accompanists, Mr Li and Mr Wade, who have worked with the students throughout the year.

Advanced and Extension Ensembles Auditions 2020

Auditions for students wishing to move into the Advanced and/or Extension Music Ensemble program, will be able to audition on Monday 18 November and Wednesday 20 November (Week 6). Students currently enrolled in Advanced and Extension Ensembles are not required to re-audition. Please contact the Secondary School Music Office should you require any further information.

Secondary Music Ensembles

With all student examinations close to finishing, attendance at all Music Ensemble rehearsals over the coming weeks is essential in the lead up to End of Year performances. Absence due to camp and/or illness will be the only excepted reason for non-attendance. It is essential that you advise the Secondary School Music Office if you are unable to attend any rehearsal with a note/email from your parent/guardian. This leave will then be discussed and approved by the Coordinator of Music.

Junior Campus

Yrs 4 and 5 Music Instrumental Program Concert

Congratulations to all students in Yrs 5 and 6 for an outstanding performance at the MIP Concert last Thursday. The standard of Music was exceptional and we are very proud of the progress that the students have made throughout the year on their instrument. Our thanks are extended to all specialist Music staff for their mentoring and guidance of students as they have explored a wide variety of instruments over the course of this year. Particular thanks are extended to the Junior Campus Music team under the leadership of Mrs Hilary Luck, in bringing together all the logistics associated with such a large-scale event.

Junior Music Ensembles 2020 – Auditions

Auditions for students wishing to involved in Junior Concert Band will take place on Tuesday 12 November (Week 5). Students currently in Junior Concert Band are not required to re-audition. Please note that auditions for students wishing to be considered for Junior Voices and the Junior Chamber program will be held next year. Information and audition application forms are available from the Junior Music Office or located on Redlands Pulse.

Strings Concert

The Redlands Music Department would like to invite you to the Strings Concert to be held at 2.00pm on Monday 11 November in Robert Dunnet Hall. This Concert will showcase students in all the Redlands String programs across the Junior Campus, including performances by the Preparatory String Ensemble, Yr 2 Strings, Yr 3 Strings, Chamber Ensembles and the Junior String Ensemble. At the conclusion of the Concert, all students will return to class be dismissed from their classrooms at the end of the day. Please contact juniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au for more information.
