Junior Music Festival 2022
We can’t believe this long awaited event is just one week away! We are now in ‘polishing’ mode for our JMF performance items, and students were excited this week to be singing with their very own live band (formed by our wonderful tutors). As we approach the performance day, students are encouraged to keep up the home practice and continue their dedication to growing as musicians.
As noted in the letter home last week, we are able to offer 1 ticket per family for the performance. Some tickets are yet to be claimed, so get in quick by clicking here!
Next week we will be opening up any leftover tickets in a ‘first come – first served’ basis, so keep an eye out for this!
Jam on Toast Incursion
Our Redlands House Seniors and TG classes were treated to an exciting performance today from James Madsen of Jam on Toast fame. James had students dancing, singing and laughing along with such enthusiasm, performing songs that we have learnt in class, such as Sizzle and Fabuloso. Our youngsters demonstrated their finger disassociation skills with a song called Finger Play‘, moved to the beat with One Sunny Day and even sang in different languages during the hello song!
Fun was had by all (including the teachers!) and we can’t wait to learn some more of James’ songs in class this semester.
Senior Instrumental Competition 2022
The Redlands Senior Instrumental Competition for 2022 is the next exciting offering in our annual competition series, with finals scheduled for Monday 19 September in the Edwards Auditorium.
The Music Department Auditions Page is now receiving audition video uploads – with auditions to be submitted by Friday 29 July (tomorrow) at 5pm.
We look forward to announcing our finalists in the weeks ahead!
Music Awards Dinner 2022
The Music Awards Dinner is Just one month away on Friday 26 August. Nominations have rolled in from tutors across all Senior cocurricular ensembles for Year Group awards in the areas of Service, Leadership, Dedication and Excellence to the Music Program throughout 2022. We are delighted that this beloved annual event has returned to our calendar, and we can’t wait to share the evening with you, our community. Our smaller ensembles are rehearsing up a fabulous program of dinner entertainment and our Friends of Music are looking forward to hosting this joyous night at the Manly Golf Club. Formal communications will be sent home shortly.

Composition Competition now open!
Composition Competition a.k.a. Comp Comp is a fantastic catalyst for those budding singer-songwriters and composers to get their creative juices flowing! Redlands’ 5th EP project is now open to receive entries via the iLearn page. Adhering to the specified guidelines, composition submissions are to be uploaded by Friday 26 August.
Eisteddfod Success
Congratulations to Yr 7 Bassoonist, Patrick Sun (12) who was awarded Highly Commended in the 15 & Under Woodwind section of the recent Sydney Eisteddfod.
Yr 12 Showcases
Further to last week’s notice regarding all the dates for our Elective Music Showcases from Yr 8-12, a reminder that this coming Monday and Tuesday afternoons will see our Yr 12 students take to the stage to present their final programs from 5pm in the Edwards Auditorium.
Monday 1st August 2022 – 5pm
Yr 12 HSC Music 2 & Extension & Yr 12 International Baccalaureate
Tuesday 2nd August 2022 – 5pm
Yr 12 HSC Music 1
Students are asked to arrive no later than 4.30pm ahead of a 5pm start in Edwards Auditorium.
