Term 4 Summer Sport Confirmation
A huge thank you to those families for your quick response in completing your child’s Term 4 Summer Sport. Within 24 hours of the registration link been sent out, responses were 30% more than what they were same time last year and within 36 hours it had increased to 81% of the total school enrolments. By completing this process so quickly you now have the opportunity to view, accept or amend your selection for Term 4. This confirmation notice was emailed to all families on Thursday.
Parents/carers are asked to find their child’s name on the spreadsheet, if they are listed in the sport they selected no action is needed. If your child wants to change sport you need to email Junior Sport juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au ASAP with the sport they are withdrawing from and the sport they want to enter into (if there are vacancies). If you cannot find your child’s name then we have not received a registration from you and would have received a reminder email to register.
Winter Gala Day Saturday 20 August
We will again be running our Winter Football Gala Day (Saturday 20 August) for all students regardless if you play Football and or Sport for Redlands. Students represent their houses in this event.
The House teams for this event are open to all Junior School students, regardless if you play a Representative Sport, Non-Representative Sport, Winter Sport, Summer sport for the school. If you are in a House (which you all are) you can register to play, that simple.
While this initiative is optional, I would encourage all students to take part as it will be a nice way to connect with peers in House groups. The day proved extremely popular last year and hopefully this year will be the same.
Format
- Every House team in each grade will play 3 games in their timeslot against house teams in their same grade. Each game is 15min long with no half time.
- Coaching staff will look after each House ensuring all players get time on the field.
- Each grade will only be on site for approximately 1 hour (exception being Year 6) to complete their scheduled matches.
- Year 3, 4 and 5 will play small sided games on the mini fields.
- Year 6 will play on the full field with reduced numbers, 9 players per side.
- Finals for Year 6 will take place based on the all the previous grades results.
- Overall House points from the day will be added to the running total which Mr Guha will announce in our next assembly.
For more information, please refer to the note that was emailed to you last week. A copy can also be found on the Junior Sports pages of Pulse.
Athletics Carnival
All students will be participating in this carnival on Wednesday 10 August in both track and field events. More information will be sent closer to the date. Students have completed a unit of work in PE classes this term across all field events and track preparation with finalists for Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Put advertised closer to the date. Highlight video from previous carnival and what to expect can be viewed here.
Want to play Club Cricket ?
There is an external team made up of some Redlands students who are about to register in Mosman Cricket looking for some more Year 5 Redlands boys to join their team. Matches are played on Saturdays between 1:00pm and 3:00pm so it won’t clash with pre-existing commitments on the Saturday morning. If your child is interested, please reach out to Catherine Grinham (catherinewale@gmail.com) for more details.
