Head of Secondary School
Farewell Redlanders
We conclude Term 3 today for all students in the Secondary School. It is a particularly special day for our Yr 12 students whose achievements we celebrate at the Valedictory Dinner this evening. Today in Dunnet Hall, we recognised the many contributions and accomplishments of the Class of 2022 in the Farewell Assembly. We heard from our outgoing Student Captains, Yr 12 Advisor Ms Mountain and our Principal, Mr Webber. It was wonderful for the students in Yr 7 to 11 to be able to share in the success of our Yr 12 students and celebrate the final moments of their schooling journey with them. For the first time in a few (pandemic) years, we were able to bring the entire Redlands School community together for the celebratory Guard of Honour.
Yesterday Yr 12 engaged in an Activities Day which commenced with a Harbour cruise and culminated in some fun in the sun at Balmoral Beach. Yr 12 were exemplary, creative in their choice of dress for the occasion and able to have fun and relax ahead of Valedictory and an intense study period prior to the final examinations.
On Monday morning Yr 12 engaged in their Final Chapel at School. This was a really special occasion for the Class of 2022 and led by our Chaplain Ms Kirsten Philips. Afterwards, the students had morning tea on the Fahl Garden.
Last Friday was an extraordinary day in the Secondary School calendar and one that allowed all members of the community, teachers and students alike, to generate some Redlands spirit in the House Spirit Fair. The sun shone down and allowed Yr 12 to offer a range of activities such as chess competitions, face painting, lip-sync battles and dancing in the quad. It was a brilliant afternoon and a well-deserved opportunity for the students to let their hair down and have some fun in name of ‘spirit’.
Prior to our House Spirit Fair, we announced the Student Leadership positions for Term 4 and 2023. School Captains, Portfolio Captains, House Captains and Captains of Activities were announced in Liggins Quad in front of the entire Secondary School. A ceremonial ringing of the Bell was embraced by both Sophia and Jack (2022) and Josie and Daniel (2023). Congratulations to all students named as Captains – they were quickly embraced by the outgoing leadership team to support in the running of the House Spirit Fair!
CIS Athletics Carnival
