Upcoming Parent Events
Staff and students are very excited to welcome our parents back into our classrooms for class tours conducted by your child followed by a home reading workshop. Have you ever wondered why the home reader sometimes is ‘easy’? Come along and find out the difference between how your child reads words on the page compared to how they comprehend, analyse, and adapt the text they are reading. These workshops will give you an insight into why certain readers are sent home and how you can help at home develop deeper understanding of how your child comprehends. Please email your teachers directly if you are attending.
Fostering Resilience – Prep School Webinar
Prep Music Information Session – Thursday 17 March 8.30am
A message from Katherine Moses, Head of Junior Campus Music K-6
Prep students have lots of exciting opportunities to be involved with Music at Redlands. Did you know that students learn a string instrument in Year 2? Or that we have a Prep Choir? To find out more about the start of your child’s Music journey, we would like to invite you to our Prep Music Orientation Session where Ms Katherine Moses (Head of Junior Campus Music) will be available to talk through the various options students have in music at school. It is also an opportunity for interested parents/carers to express an interest in becoming involved with the Friends of Music Group, who assist with various Music events and jobs throughout the year. To attend the Orientation Session next Thursday, bookings are essential through this Trybooking Link. Numbers are limited, but please join the waitlist should the allocation be exhausted.
Prep Fun Run – Postponed!
Unfortunately, the rain meant we had to postpone our Kindergarten and Year 1 Fun Run this week. We will be running the Fun Run now on Friday 18 March, the same day our Year 2 students will be running the Tunks Park Cross Country. In the meantime, keep your posters coming! A great way to be creative, have fun and support your house. You can create any poster you like. We’ve had some amazing drawings, paintings as well as computer designs. If you’d prefer to colour in a house crest, please go to our Prep School Pulse page to find the templates.
Prep Technology information session
Rain, traffic, and cars on fire on the Harbour Bridge didn’t stop our Yr 6 Technology Leaders along with Yr 2 students and Mrs Anagnostu sharing skills and insight into what technology looks like in Prep by demonstrating their digital skills and 21st century learning capabilities. Our Yr 6 Student Technology Leaders confidently guided Prep parents through hands-on iPad activities to experience how students use technology as a tool for learning in the classroom. Thank you to those parents who came and shared.
Lucy Hill Library
A message from Victoria Roberts
The Premier’s Reading Challenge website is now open for 2022 and you are now able to enter your books on your child’s online Reading Log. Please know that the PRC is a not compulsory and students can choose to be part of the Challenge. At the end of the day, we want our students to love reading and enjoy all sorts of books.
Any new students and all Kindergarten will have their login details affixed to the back page of their Student Planners this week. If your child is in Year 1 or Year 2, you can find their passwords in the back of last year’s planner. The password stays the same until Year 9. If, however you cannot find it, please send your child with their planner to the library and we will provide a new one.

Car Line
Thank you to everyone for using the car line during the rain this week. It has certainly saved lots of wet feet and bags! Can I please encourage families who have children in both Prep and Junior School to use the carline facility. It makes your life easier with one drop off and reduces the congestion on Allister Street. We will be returning to normal opening time of 8am at Prep Reception and at the carpark line next week.
Food Allergies
We have a few students on the Junior Campus and in Redlands House who are at risk of an anaphylactic reaction if they come into contact with foods containing nuts. To minimise the risk of exposure for these students and to avoid the need for emergency treatment as much as possible, we ask you to be aware and support the following recommendations and to reinforce them with your children as well.
Students are asked not to share food with each other at any time. Students are asked not to bring to school nut-based spread or paste e.g., Peanut Butter, Nutella, or Tahini. Spreads such as fish paste or Vegemite are acceptable.
Students are asked not to bring any snack packs or containers containing nuts. Snack packs with dried fruit etc. are perfectly acceptable. Thank you very much for helping us keep all our students safe.
