Belinda Oxley Scholarship Design a Card Competition

To celebrate and acknowledge Belinda Oxley’s legacy we asked our Preparatory and Junior School students to enter a ‘Design a Card’ Competition which closed on Wednesday 21 April.

The selection panel received artworks from all age groups with an incredible range of diversity reflecting the creativity and talent we have at Redlands. With so many wonderful submissions, the final judging was very, very difficult. The judging panel included Mrs Ainslie Breckenridge, Head of Preparatory School and Redlands House, Ms Paula Reinhold, Junior School Visual Arts Teacher, Ms Vanessa Finlayson, Year 2 teacher, Indiana Grace, Visual Arts Captain and Year 12 student and Ms Rebecca Mackay, Redlands Events Manager.

Thank you all our creative artists who participated in this wonderful initiative and congratulations to the winners who will be acknowledged with a gift of appreciation during their Prep and Junior School Assembly times:

Student Cyber Safety workshops

On Monday K-2 students participated in an interactive Cyber Safety Workshop run by ySafe. These workshops covered how students can be involved in staying safe online and what to do if they come across something that they are not sure of or that worries them. Students learnt about questions they can ask to test for online stranger danger, how to protect their personal information and how to stay safe online. These workshops have already stimulated follow up discussions in class and teachers will follow up concepts and strategies introduced in the workshops during wellbeing lessons in class.

Preparatory Parent Cyber Safety Webinar: Save the Date

Redlands has partnered with ySafe to host a parent webinar tailored for Preparatory School parents. The webinar will focus on challenges and opportunities in the digital environment students in Yrs K-2 may encounter, what parents should know and how to support their children’s digital safety and wellbeing. This session will be led by Yasmin London from ySafe, who is part of a team of clinical psychologists, ex-police officers and educators who specialise in the field of cyber safety and social media.

Save the date for the Prep Parent Cyber Safety Webinar on 1 June, from 6.30-7.30pm.  Booking information will be announced in Note Day in the coming weeks.

OOSH Bookings

Can I please ask that all OOSH bookings are made via email or phone by 2.30pm at the latest.

If you use the OOSH, I encourage you to go and check out the new look OOSH space evolve with Parent Boards, up to date regulation information and even a Pet Board! There is also a new menu up on the Healthy Eating Board that outlines what is available now on during the colder afternoons. For more information please refer to Redlands Pulse.

Curriculum Handbooks

Our Curriculum handbooks are now up on Pulse pages for our School community. I encourage all families to have a read through them to familiarise yourselves with what is covered in the year in your grade. It gives an insight into all the Key Learning Areas and also provides an overview and understanding of how much time is required by us to teach each KLA throughout the week. If you have any questions or would like to find out more about the teaching and learning happening in your grade, I encourage you to talk with Stacey Smith or to your class teacher.
