JUNIOR SCHOOL UPCOMING EVENTS
Mother’s Day Coffee Morning – Friday 18 June
Thank you to parents who have RSVP’d as part of our COVID plan for tomorrow morning’s event on the last day of this term. We look forward to seeing parents on campus in the piazza .
There will be coffee carts located in front of the canteen and mums are invited to grab a coffee and a granola cookie at the carts upon arrival.
If you are attending, please sign in using the QR code for COVID check in and look for the signs to show where year group parents will be gathered.
Year 6 Kidpreneur Training Day
Today, our Yr 6 students have enjoyed an engaging and immersive day program run by Entropolis in entrepreneurship to amplify their creativity and start developing problem solving, teamwork, design thinking and pitching skills.
With the Secondary School Athletics Carnival happening off site, Yr 6 enjoyed a full day on the Senior Campus in the new Learning Hub, which they have really enjoyed and has helped to familiarise them a little more with this campus ahead of the transition to Yr 7 for most of the cohort next year.
It was great to see students working in mixed groups of students from across the whole year group to solve problems and I was very impressed with the level of thinking, collaboration and ideation.
Later today, the groups will then pitch their final concept ideas to the year group and staff.
We look forward to hosting a similar event for Yr 5 early next term.
Final Notice: International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) 2021
For over 30 years, International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), have taken place in schools throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa. ICAS is an initiative of Educational Assessment Australia (EAA), a not for profit organisation owned by the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
At Redlands, it is optional for Junior School students to sit these tests in Term 3. Assessments occur during class time within a supervised area of the Junior School. No particular preparation is required and all students receive a certificate and an individual student report indicating which questions they answered correctly, their total score as well as their average compared with the rest of the students in the State.
A more detailed letter and registration details can be found here on Redlands Pulse and any questions should be directed to the Dean of Administration, Ms Atkins.
Semester One Reports
Student reports for Semester One will be uploaded to Redlands Pulse for your private access during the early part of next week.
Back copies of your son or daughter’s reports are also available via Redlands Pulse. To access the reports, parents will need their Redlands Pulse user name and password. Parents requiring assistance re user name or password should email pulse@redlands.nsw.edu.au as soon as possible.
Do take some time over the break to read through it with your child and acknowledge and celebrate areas of growth and progress. As students return for Term 3, their class teachers will also spend time with your child looking at aspects of goal setting for the second semester, which they will then share with you at the Student-Led Conferences in Week 4 of next term.
Redlands Snowsports
Over the break, many Redlands students and families will head down to the snow and I extend my best wishes to all of our Junior School students involved in a variety of events and competitions at the snow over the upcoming break. I look forward to getting updates from staff and acknowledging the students’ efforts and successes next term.

Time for a Break
As we approach the mid-year break, I encourage families to take time for rest and relaxation. As is also the case for our staff, these times away from Redlands are very important for all of us as they then allow us to be at our very best when we are here. Rest, in whatever sense, is different for all of us which and I hope that the break allows you to relax and recharge.
To those of you travelling, I wish you safe travels and we look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday 13 July. Please note that the Junior School Office will reopen on Monday 12 July.
Save the Date
Community Day: Saturday 4 September
Please save Saturday 4 September in your family calendar for our Community Day. We will share further details of this whole of Redlands community event early next term.
