From the Principal

This past week saw some significant achievements over the wide spectrum of our extra-curricular program and I sincerely congratulate all students for their participation and achievements, and thank all staff, parents and other students for their support.

Our Debating teams had a 50-50 success rate in last Friday night’s debates, including  a win over PLC. On the Sports courts, 10 of our Basketball teams have progressed to this weekend’s ISA Grand Finals. I personally saw a number of the Basketball finals and was delighted with the courage and spirit shown, regardless of results. Our Inter A girls started slowly in their game against Barker, but lifted in the second half and steadily overhauled their opponents and finally enjoyed a comfortable and well-deserved win. Our Girls Firsts also played Barker and were up against a team replete with very good players; our girls displayed a never-die spirit and continued to score right to the end and should be proud of their performance.

Our Rowing team travelled to Canberra for the Head of the Lake Regatta and won the overall Combined Girls and Boys Points Score, with a significant number of team and individual medals.

More details of these achievements can be found in the Secondary School Sport Section.

On the Service front, a number of students and families from Years 4 to 12 participated in the Clean Up Australia Day last Sunday at The Spit Reserve. Thank you for your clean-up efforts in support of our local community.

Tomorrow we will be celebrating International Women’s Day. Over the past few days on the Senior Campus, the Prefects have been selling ribbons to raise money for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
