From The Principal
The recent Visual Arts Exhibition was a wonderful celebration of the artistic talent of our students, along with the dedication and commitment of staff, who are ever passionate about supporting students to express and stretch themselves. It was fantastic to see range of art from classes across the Junior and Senior campuses, along with the showcase of the Year 12 HSC class. Some of the works powerfully challenged deep refection and exploration of emotive topics, while also expressing hope and possibility. We now look forward, with anticipation, to the IB Visual Arts Exhibition next week.
Book Week provided the opportunity to reinforce the value and enjoyment of reading, along with the joy and fun of dressing in character. Mr Corcoran and I appreciated being invited to read to Preparatory School classes and to share in the celebration of Grandparents and Special Friends Day. A number of grandparents travelled large distances to support their grandchildren, some even visiting from overseas! What a special relationship it is, rich with unconditional love and without some of the boundaries of day-to-day parenting. I still remember being in shock when my father thought it was fine that he had given my young son an entire packet of snakes to eat!
Dr Tessa Opie from ‘In Your Skin’ has visited the School again this week to support the School in running a series of relationships and sexuality education workshops for students in Years 7 through to 10. I enjoyed attending the Year 8 debrief session, during which students shared what they had learned from the day. One of the constant themes was a more thorough understanding of the nuances of consent and the importance of open, continual and trusting communication in any relationship. Dr Opie took the time to personally share with me how impressed she has been by the staff and their passion for supporting the wellbeing of our students, along with the supportive culture within the School. As someone who visits a large number of schools across Australia, I really valued and appreciated her feedback.

Redlands Spring Fair Postponed
After close consultation with our partners and suppliers, and with the safety and wellbeing of our community as our highest priority, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2022 Spring Fair due to the inclement weather forecast for Saturday.
Thank you to our dedicated and passionate volunteers and staff for your efforts in preparation of the Spring Fair. We are genuinely disappointed that we are unable to host this much loved and highly anticipated community event this Saturday.
We are currently liaising with our partners and suppliers and will be back in touch next week with further and updated details. Should you have any questions in relation to the postponement of the Spring Fair in the interim then please contact us at feedback@redlands.nsw.edu.au.
