Greetings from Southern Highlands

Last Saturday I had an opportunity to meet with a few of our Redlanders living in this region, Wendy Savill (Redlander 1970) and Christine Van Aalst (Redlander 1961). We met at the Sturt Gallery in Mittagong and had a wonderful discussion about their time at Redlands and their exciting journey after leaving the school gates. They both had very vivid memories of their times at Redlands including school bags, uniforms and of course Mrs Humphery, the former Principal.

In their times the Mowll building, a predecessor to the Redlands Learning Hub on the Senior Campus, was an innovative building for their times, when Biology was the only Science subject taught at school.

The mindset they developed at Redlands, at a time when there was no Careers Advisory service, helped them to advance in their future careers,  Wendy trained in psychology and her love for animals led her to become a breeder. Christine has set up her own production of beautiful jewellery. Their message to current Yr 12s is to follow your passion and never stop trying.

US/Canada Virtual Chapter Meeting

Thank you to our International Alumni Community for joining our USA/Canada Chapter meeting last week. The conversations, memories and sharing of personal experiences as Redlanders was very inspiring, and reflective of our talented and very treasured Redlands Community.

It was very encouraging to learn that most of them would like to remain connected and also contribute to our current school leavers by sharing their experience and expertise for tertiary education and early career choices.
