Grease the Musical the Movie

Tickets are now on sale for Grease the Musical the Movie which be shown three times at 7pm on Friday 30 July and Saturday 31 July and the 2pm Matinee on Sunday 1 August. This amazing footage of our talented company also features behind the scenes interviews highlighting the wonderful journey from stage to screen. Congratulations to all who have been involved in this amazing experience.

Drama Competition 2021

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Drama Competition will be conducted online. 

The Details

  • Email drama@redlands.nsw.edu.au to be added to the Drama Competition iLearn page. This is where you will find all relevant information, and submit your performance and application form.
  • Performances can be either a solo, duologue or ensemble piece
  • If you choose to submit a duologue or ensemble piece you must film online using zoom gallery or another appropriate platform. *Please note It is encouraged to form a group with students in your year group as there may be an opportunity to film at school in a socially distanced environment if restrictions ease and we return to onsite learning. 
  • Performances must be no more than 4 minutes in length
  • There will be no auditions. Instead, a selection of ‘finalist performances’ will be chosen 
  • Each submission must comprise of a video performance (mp4 format) and an application form. Both must be submitted via iLearn
  • All content/and or material must be appropriate and suited to the age of performers. If unsure, speak to a drama teacher
  • House points will be awarded for each submission 
  • Prior to filming your piece, please watch the ‘Filming your entry’ video located on iLearn under ‘Modules’ as it provides tips for filming your performance. 
  • The winners from each category will be awarded a medal and $50 theatre voucher 

Important Dates

  • Submissions are open from Monday 26 July 
  • Submission close on Friday 20 August, Week 6 
  • Judging will take place during Weeks 7 and 8 and the winners will be announced in Week 9

Judging

  • A winner will be announced for the solo category and the group category (two or more performers) 
  • Each performance will be judged on the following criteria:

Criteria 1 – Skills Performance skills appropriate to the style or form
Criteria 2 – Interpretation Stylistic interpretation of the chosen repertoire
Criteria 3 – Techniques Demonstration of a solo and/or ensemble techniques
Criteria 4 – Presentation The care taken with suitable dress/costume and appearance appropriate to the performance style

Extra Subject and Cocurricular Classes 

It was wonderful to see all our Drama and Theatre students in our Extra Subject program online this week in these challenging times. Our Acting, Film, Music Theatre and Production students welcomed the opportunity to communicate creatively with each other and our talented teachers adapted activities so successfully from stage to screen.
