Debating

Welcome back! It has been a busy start to the year for Debating. We have the ISDA and FED competitions starting this term and continue with social Debating or Debating Club. If you have been considering Debating as a Cocurricular, now is the opportunity to join a team.

  1. Competitive Debating – (ISDA and FED competitions in Semester 1)
Trials for these are after school this Friday 31 January 3.30 – 5.30pm and the teams chosen continue to compete for the whole season (Semester 1). Students should register for the trials here. Please use your full and official name. These trials will be run by experts in the field, Masters Academy. They will be providing coaches for the competitions and will ensure that there is a coaching program and that the coaches are trained and experienced. More about these competitions and about Debating in general is in the Debating section of Redlands Pulse. Students should meet at the Liggins Quad after school on Friday for the trials. We will try to put all students who attend trials into a Debating team. Please register for trials using the above link.
  2. Social Debating (Debating Club) – (Yr 7 only)
These run on a weekday morning and are also being conducted by Masters Academy. Please email info@mastersacademy.com.au for more information.

Students are encouraged to enrol for both Competitive Debating and Debating Club but it is not compulsory to do one in order to do the other.

Please read About Debating on Redlands Pulse and feel free to chat with me or with Aleisha Lawrence, our Debating Captain, before you decide to make the commitment.

I look forward to another productive Debating season!
