Chaplain
Prayer is one of the strangest aspects of life and faith. Yet for Christians, who see their faith not as a religion but as a vibrant relationship with the almighty, prayer is as natural as breathing. Prayer is an ongoing conversation with God, a great honour of access provided by Jesus who taught us to pray to God as a loving Father. This is a conversation as varied as any other. Sometimes it is asking for things, others a thank you, often a “you are amazing” and sometimes just sitting with God as one processes life. It is not that prayer always changes things, but rather prayer often changes us: our perspectives, our desires, our understanding of God and his way forward. It is true that God answers prayers but not always as we want or as we expect, often more generously than anticipated.
One amazing aspect of prayer is that as we pray and trust God, our anxiety and concerns dwindle into peace. So, I invite you to pray, God does not ignore prayers and delights in hearing us seek him out, just as a father or mother is delighted when their child sits down and starts to speak about their day.
I am also convinced that God answers prayer and so I would like to invite members of the Redlands community to gather with me to pray for our students, staff, Executives, Board Members and community. We pray for the good of the school, that God will continue to bless it.
