Chaplain
Jesus is for everyone. This concept has been echoed by a number of students who have prepared talks for the Christmas Services for Friday. They have picked up on the announcement of Jesus’ birth being given to the rustic, common shepherds and the elite, wealthy Magi. The angel announced Jesus’ birth saying, ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy for all people’. (Luke 2:10)
This news for everyone is important in our School and so in Christian Studies and Chapels, students are given insight into the good news and its impact on the world. We also have two groups, TGIF in the Junior School and CRU in the Secondary School, where students gather as a cocurricular club where students explore faith and the bible together. There are interesting activities, discussions, prayer times and opportunity for questions.
Last Friday was an exciting day as a group of Yr 12 (2021) who are part of CRU visited the Junior Campus to run the TGIF group. They explored the challenging text: ‘Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life, no one come to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6
There was a puzzle, games, craft and discussion as students shared the questions and ideas that the text brought to mind.
This was the first combined time for these groups and it was met with such enthusiasm that the students have asked to do this next year on a termly basis.
This is a wonderful time to see students encourage students, have discussions about life, faith and trusting Jesus. It captures the vertical networking we encourage among students and fosters confidence and leadership as younger students look forward to when they can be the leaders.
