Student Achievements
Congratulations to Angus McLachlan who has placed in the Hong Kong Finals for the Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition on 12 – 17 August. He will be doing six days of classes and performance. Angus placed in the top 10 out of 49 entrants for the Junior A division and was awarded a part scholarship to attend the AGP Ballet Intensive Program prior to the finals in Hong Kong.
Izzy McLachlan has been very busy too entering the Eisteddfods and she received HC in Northern Beaches Contemporary Restricted Class, 13 years and under.
Maddison Hand and Alyssa Price were attending the Australian Ballet School Interstate Training program in Melbourne over the holidays. (pictured at top)
Dante Minassian is also keeping busy. This weekend he attended the Australian Ballet School’s masterclass, having a lovely time!

Alumni News
Congratulations to our Dance and Drama teacher and Alumna Embla Bishop who took the Melbourne theatre scene by storm at the weekend. Embla is currently performing in the musical Barnum, directed by Tyran Parke, which opened on Thursday night at the Comedy Theatre. On Saturday illness struck and the two leading ladies were unable to perform. Embla was called upon to make her debut in the lead role as Charity Barnum (opposite Todd McKenney). Less than 24 hours later she also made her debut as Jenny Lind, the supporting female lead. Fantastic work Embla! Read more here.
Friends of Ballet and Dance Morning Tea
The FOBD morning tea will take place in Parkes Hall on Thursday 30 May 9.00-10.30am. Everyone is welcome! Please let our new parents know. Last year was a great success so come along and meet the Academy staff, FOBD other parents. Please bring a plate to share.
Save the Date
The Ballet & Dance Awards Dinner will be held on 19 September at Manly Golf Club. All students in Yrs 7-12 will be invited to attend. Awards (Yrs 8-11) and Certificates (all Yr 7) will be announced at the dinner and special guests will join us. The official invitation to book will be out soon.
Uniform Update
Please note that the new school sports tracksuit is now available in the Uniform Shop. It is a mandatory requirement for our Dance students to wear the tracksuit when participating in Eisteddfods outside school.
RAD Exams
The RAD Junior Grades and Senior exams will be around 13 September (Term 3) (exact dates to be confirmed).

Curriculum Dance – Important Dates
Parents are warmly invited to the following Curriculum Dance Showcases in Parkes Hall.
- Yrs 8, 9 and 10 Showcase – Thursday 20 June at 6.30pm
- Yrs 11 and 12 HSC/IB Showcase – Thursday 25 July at 6.30pm
