EOY Concert
Congratulations to all the cocurricular Dance students from Prep, Junior and Secondary schools, who have been involved in an extraordinary week of performing during the production of this year’s, Dance on Film. Over five days, 240 students from 80 weekly classes, had the opportunity to film their end of year work including, the 19th century classical ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, Latino style senior jazz, high energy Junior Jazz and Tap works, together with an intriguing array of soulful contemporary works. It has been a remarkable and unique experience and a wonderful end of year celebration of the achievement for all our students.
We would like to thank the parents and carers for their support this week as we managed the logistics of this new experience, together with the Friends of Ballet and Dance, led by Sue Bandfield.
We would particularly like to thank the support and operations staff who have helped to make this happen: Ben Peate, Leanne Kells, Zane Rault and the Facilities team and Yr 12 student, Tom Wightwick, who did an amazing job with the theatrical lighting for the whole project.
We also acknowledge the Academy’s team of highly skilled and dedicated Ballet and Dance teachers, whose expertise in the training and development of our young dancers should be celebrated: Kim Traynor, Yulia Furnas, Deborah Patience, Maria Dos Santos, Kate Larter, Samantha Simpson, Julie-Anne Kerr, Brianna Law, Amanda Sommerville, Susie Sturgis, Natasha Sturgis, Marcia Kuzmanoski, Jennifer Psaroulis, Amanda Whittaker, class assistant Zoe Krueger. We also thank our wardrobe extraordinaire, Cassandra Woodhams.
We look forward to sharing this experience, Dance on Film, with our community as soon as possible.
