Redlands House/Transition Gold

Mother’s Day Activities and Morning Tea

Redlands House will be holding a Mother’s Day Celebration on Friday 10 May, beginning at 9.30am with classroom activities, followed by a shared morning tea outside in the playground. You are invited to bring some morning tea to share with your child, along with a picnic rug or chair for your comfort. We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate this special day. As communicated by Transition Gold teachers, TG class will be following the Preparatory morning, having activities in the classroom from 8.20am.

Seniors and Transition Gold Excursion

In the coming weeks, all Seniors and Transition Gold Children will visit the Eco House and Garden at the Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre at Terry Hills. The Kimbriki Eco House and Garden is a unique education centre dedicated to exploring how to live in a more sustainable way – a place for children to experience, learn and be inspired. This experience will educate students and staff in ways to live more sustainably, and empower our children to construct knowledge, explore values and develop an appreciation of the environment and its relationship to their world. Excursions such as these, lay the foundations for an environmentally responsible adulthood.

Eye Screening

The STEPS Eye Screening Program will be visiting Redlands House next week and will be testing children who have turned four years old this year. This is a government service that screens all children who will attend school next year. Please ensure that your form is signed as soon as possible so that your child does not miss out on this important free screening opportunity.

Waste Free Wednesday

From the beginning of this year, the Senior class children at Redlands House have been undertaking Environmental Education with Mrs Haverhals and Ms Kennedy. In these lessons, the children have been learning about worms, composting, recycling and the impact single-use plastic has on our environment, especially our oceans. They have been introduced to Take Three for The Sea, which encourages them to make a difference to our oceans by taking three pieces of rubbish with them when they leave the beach (under adult supervision). As a community, we are all trying very hard to do our share of sustainable practices. We invite you to join us in our war on waste by sending your child in every Wednesday with a package free, healthy lunch. Together, we can educate our future generations in sustainable living and practices.
