Upcoming Events

Swimming Carnival

Please ensure approval is given for our Yr 8 students to attend the 2020 Secondary School Swimming Carnival next Thursday 20 February.

Science Club

Science Club encompasses a number of the already existing activities offered by the Science faculty, such as Engineering Club and Titration Club, and expands to take in more opportunities with possibilities including Sleek Geek and the Young Scientist Competitions, as well as being a way of disseminating information about external Science based events for interested students. Science Club meets on Tuesday lunchtimes in R2.1.

Some students have already signed up for the Engineering or Titration Club and this is part of the Science Club. The Science Club will focus on particular events at different times. All students are welcome and we would like to hear their ideas of what interests them.

Exchange Program

This Saturday, Tara Gold, Olivia Salmond, Emma Sullivan and Scarlett Thorp, will be travelling to Auckland, NZ, for three weeks to take part in our regular exchange program with Kristin School. In addition to school and cocurricular activities at Kristin, the students will also have the opportunity to attend School Camp in the Tongariro region of the North Island. We wish them all the best in this experience and we look forward to welcoming their exchange partners in the first three weeks of Term 2.

Dr Prue Salter’s Tips for Parents

It is extremely important that students set goals during the school year to consistently be working toward improving in various areas. While students have been working with their Tutors to set goals and establish action items to work toward these goals, Dr Prue Salter has a Set Your Targets handout to guide the conversation between students and parents for student reflection.

The Yr 8 Pastoral Program

This term, students will focus on developing their understanding of self-management and responsible decision making through setting clear goals, creating an evolving term planner to be added to and adapted throughout the term and by studying positive and negative risk-taking. Outcomes for this term include: understanding the connections between emotions and choices, identifying safe and unsafe risks, understanding how choices/impulses can impact personal wellbeing and resilience and to be introduced to some of the consequences involved in these decisions.
