Service

Tuesday 26 November saw the finale of the Christmas Drive in the Secondary School. Students spent time in the middle of the day with their tutor group filling their bags and writing cards for the recipients. It was wonderful to see a high level of engagement across all year groups with special mention going to Year 12 Dumolo Blue and Year 7 McDouall Green who brought in an impressive number of items and bags and were dedicated to the cause.

A special mention must also go to Service Captains Lachie and Charlotte who, in their short time in this role, have already left a mark on the school community as a result of their deep commitment to helping others, their energy and their dedication to developing students’ understanding of what it means to serve.

It is also essential to commend the Year 12 HSC cohort who stepped up and truly served with heart in their organisation of the drive. They considered how to advertise the drive, how to motivate students across the school and educate them about the cause and they made Christmas cards for the recipients of the bags. A particular highlight for many of them was spending time with a younger tutor group helping them to think about the cause. One HSC student commented: “I think it was very useful to see the young teenagers getting involved, and actually putting thought to how they can help and act towards this drive. I felt a sense of accomplishment from helping out.”

Thank you Redlands Secondary School and families for supporting Share the Dignity this Christmas and helping to bring some kindness and joy to women and families doing it tough.
