Mary’s House Walk: Sunday 27 October – 8:30am

As you read last week, Redlands is proud to be supporting Mary’s House, a local and completely community-funded organisation who provide immediate critical care, safety and shelter, and then access to legal and financial services, to women and families impacted by domestic violence.
Their 8.8km walk is this Sunday. It is wonderful to see lots of students have already registered. It’s not too late to sign up – whether you’re a student or a family member, please join the Redlands team by following this link. Registration costs $85/adult and is free for those under 18. If you would like to donate, please follow the same link.
If you are joining us, please be at St Leonard’s Park, North Sydney by 8:30am for check-in. Look for the Redlands banner!

The Great Book Swap for Indigenous Literacy Foundation: Friday 1 November
The Indigenous Literacy Foundation invests in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities to provide the tools and resources they request to shape the direction of their children’s future. They run three core programs including: Book Buzz that aims to develop pre-literacy skills and familiarity with books for babies and toddlers, Book Supply that gifts books that aim to interest and engage the Community in reading and sharing books together and Community Publishing that supports adults and children to write and illustrate their own stories in their own language.
On Friday 1 November, the Senior School is holding a Great Book Swap to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This will involve students bringing in a gold coin donation and a book for the swap. The idea is that students bring a book to then get a book!
Students know which day they need to bring in their book. It would be wonderful if parents could please support them to remember!
Books should be:
- good condition (we want second-hand books but they shouldn’t be ruined)
- age appropriate (for someone in Year 7 – 11)
- fiction or nonfiction including graphic novels but NOT a magazine or a textbook or a book read for school
- something interesting that another student in the school will like
