Redlands Inaugural Sports Luncheon – Celebrating 120 Years of Redlands Sports

This is a great opportunity for our whole school community to learn more about the history and current offering and role of Sports education at Redlands whilst meeting parents across sports, Year Groups and Redlands leadership. Tables will be organised by Year Groups and/or sports, eg. Netball, Snowsports, Basketball, Rugby etc. which you indicate when you make your booking.

Our Guest Speakers, past Redlands students, will share their very inspiring journey:
Karyn Gojnich (Davis), Sailing, Class of 1978 (Olympic medalist, Redlander and former Redlands parent)
Janusz Hooker, Rowing, Class of 1987 (Olympic medallist, Atlanta 1996)
Lachlan Mackay, Rugby, Class of 2000 (Wallaby and Brumby)
Holly Crawford, Snowsports, Class of 2001 (Olympic Snowboarder)

One of our esteemed alumni speakers is Janusz Hooker, Class of 1987. Janusz, grandson of the LJ Hooker founder, led a consortium of investors who acquired the LJ Hooker company from Suncorp in 2009 and has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business in the US.

“Sport, especially team sport, provides you many of the key building blocks for life. While at Redlands I simply played sports because it was fun and I liked to win. I did not realise I was learning teamwork, persistence, discipline, work ethic, the elation of winning and more importantly recovering from defeat. The list goes on. School sport was considered a recreation, downtime from class or homework when actually the lessons it taught provides a real advantage in life as an adult – professionally and personally.” Janusz Hooker

Passionate about innovation, in 2018 Janusz led the development and launch of LJ Hooker Avnu, a new force in real estate using transformative technology. The first LJ Hooker Avnu opened in Sydney’s blue-chip lower North Shore.
