Head of Secondary School
Festival on the Fahl
Year 12, led by Service Captains Antonia Morgan and William Algar, hosted another wonderful Festival on the Fahl experience today in aid of breast cancer, supporting the McGrath Foundation. Their financial goal was an ambitious one, reflective of enduring support for students and families impacted by breast cancer. The Secondary School was a sea of pink for the occasion with students and staff doing what they do best – engaging with community for community.
Year 10 Discernment of Stage 6 Pathways
Last night it was an absolute pleasure to welcome our Year 10 students and their parents to the School for the Stage 6 Pathway Information Evening. Deans of HSC and IB, Ms Benjamin and Mr Taylor, provided an overview of the Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate Diploma programs. Afterwards, our dedicated teaching staff spoke individually to students and families about the various possibilities and opportunities that await them.
This morning a panel of Year 12 students spoke to Year 10 about their experiences, sharing their learnings and advice. A variety of subjects was covered from subject specifics to managing ADHD, studying for four hours a day, navigating overwhelming emotions, leaning into positive relationships with teachers, getting your head around TOK and benefiting from Extension subjects. Year 10 posed some thoughtful questions to Year 12, with Jacob concluding the session with a pithy recommendation to ‘study hard and have fun’.

Tournament of Minds
Congratulations to the fourteen students in Year 7 to 9 who have been invited to participate in Tournament of Minds (TOM), a cocurricular competition well recognised for stretching and challenging gifted and high potential students. Redlands will be represented by two vertically structured teams:
|
Charlotte Boris (Year 9) |
Tom Beatty (Year 9) |
|
Amelie Dewar (Year 9) |
Georgia Cavric (Year 9) |
|
Melissa Franco (Year 9) |
Lachlan Carter (Year 8) |

Olivia Law (Year 8) |
|
Yolanda Bai (Year 7) |
Alisha Rajalingam (Year 7) |

Aashray So (Year 7) |
Sophie Wong (Year 7) |
TOM creates opportunities for like-minded students to engage in open-ended, team-based problem solving, and the vertical year group structure allows for peer mentoring that builds connection and collaboration across different age groups. Both Redlands teams will present their solutions to one of four challenges in The Arts, Language Literature, Social Science, or STEM at the Sydney North Regional Final in early September. If they win their challenge, they will qualify for the NSW Branch Final at UNSW on 22 September.
From the Chaplain
All welcome to attend the Redlands Parent Prayer Meeting on Tuesday 18 June at 5.30-6.30pm in the Junior Campus-Arnold Library.
