Year 7
As Term 3 draws to a close, I would like to wish students and families a well-deserved break over the upcoming school holidays. It has been a wonderful term with our Yr 7 students hitting their stride and achieving much in all facets of school life. It has been exciting to watch students embrace new opportunities, most recently in Sport as students trialled for Summer representative teams. A number of our students have joined the Redlands Rowing Program and I have been delighted to hear stories of training sessions and new friendships formed.
Debating
There is much to celebrate in Debating this week. Cowper House won the Yr 7 House Debating Competition. Furthermore, last Friday evening, our Year 7 Debating Team won the SDN Grand Final. The competition was fierce and the arguments were strong. This is such a wonderful achievement, congratulations Elodie Melvin, Felix Elwin, Sophia Liu, Soraya Christian- Hare, Alexander Heller, Ava Atkinson, Gabrielle Bernath. A special thanks to Debating Coordinator and Yr 7 Tutor, Ms Rachel Beggs, who administrated both competitions.
House Spirit Fair
Last Friday afternoon, Yr 7 students took part in the House Spirit Fair, hosted by the Yr 12 Student Leadership Team. Students enjoyed and competed in many activities including 3v3 Basketball, Chalk drawing, Dodgeball, Handball and Chess as well as Lip sync battles and Just Dance. Yr 7 relished the cross grade interactions and the fun atmosphere. It was heartening to see Yr 7 students embrace the spirit of the afternoon.
CIS Athletics
CIS Athletics was held on Tuesday 20, September and the following Yr7 students competed in the NSWCIS Athletics Championships as part of the ISA Team. Congratulations Hugo Burton, Finn Gurney, Milla McKim and Eva Simpson for their selection at this important athletics event.
Gymnastics
Ingeborg Andersen, Amelie Beeton, Charli Amm and Penny Vincent McGovern travelled to the Gold Coast last weekend to represent Manly Waringah at the National Gymnastics Club Competition in trampolining and tumbling. Gymnastics at this level requires a huge commitment of both time and energy and we are incredibly proud of the girls.
