Preparing for Senior Years with Focus and Support

Please note a few additional events for our Yr 10 students that have been confirmed in our calendar. We want Yr 10 to finish these next few months academically, emotionally and socially strong and confident, working together and supporting one-another as they near their senior programs of studies.

In line with the Pastoral Care Program and PDHPE Program, students will continue to explore healthy relationships with an Assertive Behaviours Workshop led by Mr Brent Sanders and our students who identify as she/her will be involved in Tomorrow Woman. Tomorrow Woman is a two hour experiential workshop that creates a safe non-judgemental space in the virtual world to explore tricky topics in a relatable way and get to the heart of issues that women are facing every day. Further information regarding the Assertive Behaviours Workshop is coming to parents from Mr Peter Crawford, Head of PDHPE.

Stepping up into leadership positions and taking advantage of various opportunities will continue with Peer Support Training and Burn Bright Altitude Day (further information in last week’s Note Day).

This week, twenty Yr 10 students volunteered to stand proudly at the Secondary School gates, the Junior School entrances and even the car line to welcome students to school and experience the coveted Gate Duty position. Thank you to all volunteers who wanted to engage in this experience and be a leader to their peers and community.

Inter-House Debating

Over these last two weeks, students from all four houses, many students with no prior experience in Debating, have put their hands up to join their house Debating teams for an impressive Inter-House Debating competition. Thank you to Mrs Rachel Beggs for organising this event, Yr 11 for coaching and Yr 12 students for adjudicating.

Last week, Cowper took on Dumolo to debate whether religious schools in Australia should not have the right to sack teachers because of their views on sexuality. Congratulations to Cowper (Affirmative) for winning this debate. This week, McDouall takes on Roseby. Stay tuned for further results with the final debate in Week 9!

Yr 9 Service-Learning Project – Vinnies Drive
