Show Time!

Week 5 sees the turning point of Term 1 and we are excitedly and busily preparing for the vibrant relaunch of so many events that have been canceled over the past two years. A happy time of renaissance!

We can’t wait to share music with our community again, and hope that you’ll get on board to help us kick off our performance calendar for 2022!

Jazz In The Garden – Saturday 19 March 2022 – 6pm
(Garden Opens – 5:30pm)

Redlands Music is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2022 Music Performance season, which will see the Fahl Garden inaugurated as a Music performance venue!  All community members are welcome to join us to hear music offered by our Senior Jazz program (Jazz Combos, Intermediate Stage Bands, Advanced Stage Band and Jazz Vocal Ensemble). Bring your picnics and rugs, and join us for a wonderful showcase of live music!

PERFORMERS PLEASE NOTE:

Junior Piano Competition – Friday 29 April 2022 – 4-6pm

The Junior Piano Competition will be held on Friday 29 April 2022 from 4-6pm, with Junior auditions completed across this week. Auditions required students to demonstrate advanced technical skills, personal expression and a secure understanding of style.  The successful Finalists will be advised in Wk 7 Note Day.

Senior Piano Competition – Friday 6 May 2022 – 4-6pm

There has been a necessary change to the date for the Senior Piano Competition due to an evolving calendar in other parts of the school.  Junior Piano Competition will still be held on Friday 29 April 2022 from 4-6pm, but Senior Piano Competition has been pushed back a week to Friday 6 May 2022.  As a result of the Senior Event being held a week later, we have now pushed the online submission date back to Friday 11 March 2022.

It’s not too late for keen Senior Campus pianists to audition.  Please see the iLearn Auditions page for more information, and use this form to sign up.

Preparatory School Music Orientation Session

When launching into school life with your young children in the Prep School, you may have bigger questions about what lies ahead for them as their school journey progresses. If you have a child in the Prep School, we encourage you to mark Thursday 17th March at  8.30am in your diary for a Music Orientation Session! Our Head of Junior Campus Music, Katherine Moses, will walk you through an overarching picture of Music-learning at Redlands, and share specifics about the wonderful things in store in thee years ahead.  Meeting details will be confirmed in next week’s Note Day.

Music Restrictions Eased

In line with broader advice to schools from the government and AISNSW, from Week 6, all staff and students on both campuses are given the option to wear a mask while singing, though this will no longer be mandated. In addition to longstanding, broader community safety measures, our heightened monitoring of distancing and ventilation remains in place moving forward, as does Redlands provision of HEPA filters and CO2 monitors to ensure maximised air quality.

Be our Friend?

Thank you to those who joined us last week for our quick-zoom ‘Friends of Music’ launch meeting for 2022! Excited to welcome some new ‘friends’ to our midst, and ever grateful for the wealth of talent in our community drawing alongside our program to add the proverbial cherries on top of our events. Being a ‘Friend of Music’ is a wonderful way to be close to the action as your child’s musical journey unfolds.

If you’d like to know more about Friends of Music, express your interest, or would like to offer a small increment of time here and there as you are able, CLICK THIS LINK and we’ll be in touch with some fun ways you can connect in!
