Drama and Theatre
Welcome
Welcome everyone to an exciting Term 1 for the Redlands Drama and Theatre community. A special welcome to all our new families. Over the holiday period, Mrs Joy Daley made the difficult decision to retire as the Head of Drama and Theatre. She made an extremely positive impact on the Drama and Theatre program and provided many students the opportunity to showcase their talents. We thank her passion in supporting so many students in the Performing Arts.
Staff Congratulations
The Drama Department would like to give a warm welcome to Ms Jessica Tripp who has joined us this year as Ms Sarah Sparke is on maternity leave.
We would also like to congratulate Ms Sarah Sparke on the safe arrival of her baby boy Hudson who arrived on the 11th December. We wish her family all the best.
Musical
Rehearsals are well underway for Shrek the Musical 2022. We are excited to have our first full cast rehearsal on Friday.
Musical Rehearsals
Our full rehearsal schedule has been emailed to all Musical company families. Exact scenes, songs and students required for each rehearsal are available on the iLearn Shrek Page for parents and students to see. It is also on the Theatre and Drama noticeboard. Students are reminded to be prompt to all rehearsals, bring plenty of food and water, wear appropriate clothing as required and bring the very important libretto!
Makeup
Any student interested in theatre makeup is invited to become part of the Makeup team for 2022. Students will meet on Friday afternoons and are trained in stage makeup. The teams will be involved in school functions, such as the Musical, throughout the year. Any student interested in joining these groups should collect an enrolment form from the Drama and Theatre office.

Student Achievements
Young Warfies
We would like to congratulate Claudia Lalich and Sebastian Tang on being accepted in the Sydney Theatre Company’s Young Wharfies Program.
Young Wharfies is an engaging learning program for Year 11 Drama students who are inspired by power and creativity of theatre. Students will attend a variety of productions, pre-show workshops and participate in multiple masterclasses led by artists/creatives about theatrical styles, playwriting, directing, programming and writing for theatre. We wish them all the best in this exciting opportunity
Griffin Ambassador
In more exciting news, Charlotte Waterland has been accepted as a Griffin Ambassador for this year. The program is stocked with a hearty menu of workshops, performances and access to industry professionals all geared to support the next generation of theatre-goers and theatre-makers.
