Year 11
We are all looking forward to seeing Yr 11 return to On-Campus Learning next week, after such a long period of Remote Learning. The pandemic has meant that we have all needed to make changes in many aspects of our lives, including how we learn and how we socialise. It may take time to readjust back to the normal routine of school life and it may be quite challenging for many of us. Please remember that we are here to support the students and that they can reach out to me, Richard, their Tutor, the school counsellors or any of the teachers should they need any additional support.
Class of 2022 Leadership Positions
Last week our leaders were announced for the class of 2022 and congratulations goes to everyone of them. They are all amazing young people and I am sure they will serve Redlands with respect, honour and compassion. Please click on the following two links for the full list of 2022 Student Leaders.

Mock Trial Team
The Yr 11 Mock Trial team won the round of 16 this week against Sylvania High School and progress through to the quarter finals of the NSW Law Society Mock Trial competition. It was their first trial on Zoom and an interesting experience! As the Magistrate, Amy Douglas-Baker, said to them, trials on Zoom are real-life nowadays, and she had just completed a really trial on Zoom earlier in the day. The quarter finals are in a couple of weeks against Shore and we are excited to see how the team performs. Congratulations go to: Barristers Sophia Maxwell and Jack Murray, Solicitor Charlotte Harman, Clerk of the Court Sophie McMillan, Witnesses Louise Colin and Callum Wardman-Browne.
STEM News
Dasha Sychova and Jack Cantwell recently participated in the Australian Informatics Olympiad, a national coding competition. Congratulations to them both – Jack received a Credit and Dasha received a Bronze medal. Earlier in the year, Dasha also participated in the Fermat Contest, a problem-solving contest run by the University of Waterloo in Canada where she achieved a Certificate of Distinction, which is a fabulous achievement. Dasha will put these problem-solving skills to good use as she participates in the InspiritAI online program run by Stanford Alumni these next few months.
2021 Australian Mathematics Competition
Congratulations to all Yr 11 participants in this international competition involving students from approximately 30 countries throughout the Pacific and South-East Asia. The competition tests everything from basic numeracy skills through to advanced problem solving. A particular mention goes to Dasha Sychova, Max Rawlinson and Ema Yasumura who all achieved a Distinction.
Have a great week!
