Senior Vocal Competition
Last evening Friday 12 June 2021, saw another extraordinary evening of live entertainment provided by the finalists of our Senior Vocal Competition for 2021. Our guest adjudicator, Clarissa Spata, commented on the overwhelming talent rising in our ranks at Redlands, and gave thoughtful mentoring advice for those wishing to pursue a future in the performance field.

Senior Instrumental Competition 2021
The Redlands Senior Instrumental Competition for 2021 will be the next offering in our Competition series, and is to be held on Monday 13 September 2021. Auditions will take place in Term 3, Week 2. If you are interested in auditioning, please ensure your entry form is completed and returned to the Music Department by the first Tuesday of Term 3, Tuesday 13 July 2021. Audition Forms are available for download from Pulse.
Australian Composer Incursion
We’re so very fortunate at Redlands to have an extraordinary team of Music specialists and tutors offering world class music-learning opportunities to our students. Over the past few weeks, students across Yrs 10-12 have enjoyed a focused exploration in the field of contemporary Australian Composers and Compositions. How fortunate we were to bring the acclaimed Nick Russoniello (also a well-loved Redlands Saxophone Tutor) in to curriculum lessons to present composition seminars for students. Nick’s sharing regarding his own compositional process was enlightening, with students reporting inspiration to further explore idiomatic writing for their own instrument specialisations.
Redlands Composition Competition 2021
Calling all singer-songwriters & budding Australian Composers!
After a successful 3 years of EP recordings, we are delighted to announce the next Redlands EP in the pipeline for 2022! We hereby open our call for submissions. Winning compositions will be selected by a panel of specialists to be professionally produced and studio engineered for release as part of our Redlands EP project.
Looking for a holiday project? Get those creative juices flowing and ensure your Entry Form and Composition are submitted by Friday 13 August 2021. Entry Forms are available from the Senior Music Office or for download from Pulse.
Music at Winter School
In the hope of further supporting learner continuity, the Music Department is considering trialling the offering of occasional Private Instrumental or Vocal Tuition sessions for Winter School attendees over Zoom.
Though there are many variables to navigate, if your child is attending Winter School and you would like us to investigate the possibility of occasional Instrumental or Vocal lessons with your tutor, please use this sign-up form to confirm your interest by Tuesday 13 July 2021.
Music Awards Dinner – Friday 20 August 2021
Make sure you have pencilled this date in your diary. Friends of Music are hosting this joyous night of music-making, with entertainment provided by student-led small ensembles. As well as celebrating the place that Music holds within our school community, students across our many cocurricular ensembles are nominated for awards in areas of Service, Leadership, Dedication and Excellence to the Music Program throughout 2021.
