Year 12
Paul Dillon
Our Year 12 students again enjoyed the presentation given by Paul Dillon last Monday. Despite the serious topic of driving, drinking and drug use, Paul connected easily with students and spoke in an accessible manner. He encouraged students to be as prepared as possible by being well versed about the process of random breath testing (RBT), roadside (RDT) or mobile drug testing (MDT). He provided students with some basic facts about drugs and the probable impact of being caught with an illicit substance and the far reaching effects this could have on a young person’s life. Perhaps most importantly he again discussed the importance of seeking help quickly for a friend, should something go wrong. I hope parents also had the opportunity to hear Paul talk through his parent presentation on vaping and its effects.
MoneyVest Presentation
On Wednesday, our Year 12 students listened to Dominic Aarsen from MoneyVest as he spoke with students about some of the financial challenges that they might face at this time in their lives. The workshop styled presentation “Money Confidence” proved very engaging for students as they considered whether they were a spender or saver and what relationship that they had with money. Dominic also spoke about superannuation, investing strategies and tax obligations.

The Redlands Cross Country Carnival was held on Wednesday and in early news, Emma Mahon won the Girls U18. In the Boys U18, Felix Abrahams achieved 8th place and James Barrelle 14th place.
