Chaplain
The Christian faith is one that is based on Grace. It is an entirely unique concept in religions, that God gives us not what we deserve, but a generous gift of eternal life. While our society is a fierce meritocracy, our spiritual life is overflowing in grace that should impact all of our interactions with others. Wednesday was the commencement of Lent, the season leading up to Easter. Easter is the celebration of the story of God’s loving kindness to the world. God expressing Grace to us all.
Our CRU group (the Cocurricular Club that explores faith and life which meets on Monday lunch in H.2.5) provided pancakes on Monday for the Senior Campus free of charge. This was most unexpected by students who thought it may be a fundraiser. The genuine surprise that they should be given something sweet and delicious for nothing was the beginning of discussions around the grace of God. This practical demonstration of grace to others helps students begin to grasp that this is what the core of the bible is all about.
There is also an Cocurricular Club for Yrs 3-6 on Friday lunch, TGIF, where students are welcome to enjoy lunchtime with friends and interesting activities to explore faith. There is a new group for Yrs 1-2 called TGIL (Thank God it’s Lunchtime) on Thursdays, meeting at the Friendship Bench.
God Bless
