Year 10
Swimming Carnival Success!
Well done to all the Yr 10 students who competed in the Secondary School Swimming Carnival on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see wonderful participation on the day by our Yr 10 students across all events with many students taking the opportunity to enter events to push themselves outside their comfort zone.
Congratulations to Sienna Wessels (10 CB) who was awarded Age Champion in the 16 year girls, Max Symons (10DR) who was awarded Age Champion in the 16 year boys and Loch Wilding (10MG) who was was awarded Runners Up Age Champion in the 16 year boys, and achieved 1st place in the Champion of Champions 50m Freestyle.
Career Interviews
This week, Career interviews have begun to take place. All parents and students have been emailed interview times. All students are to arrive ten minutes early so they can have a quick read through their personal Careers Report.
Winter School Registrations
Registration for Winter School is now open. Winter School places the same emphasis on academic excellence that is expected at Redlands, whilst providing further opportunity for students to be extended far beyond the classroom. Winter School also provides the opportunity for students to develop their skills in skiing and snowboarding with an intensive high quality training program. Students participate in a total of 11 hours of ski or snowboard training lessons from qualified instructors and race coaches. These lessons provide a comprehensive program of race and freestyle techniques development in small graded groups.
The program promotes physical and mental fitness in the context of skiing and snowboarding skills for all levels of ability. Many Redlands students progress to competition standard in snowboarding, alpine and freestyle skiing at school, state and international levels. Students are housed in supervised single-sex dormitories where they learn to share and live effectively and harmoniously with others in an out-of-family context. The development of students’ respect, understanding and tolerance of a range of age groups is an essential component of Winter School.
IGNITE
This week in the Year 10 Year Assembly, IGNITE was launched as part of the Yr 10 Pastoral Program for 2021.
IGNITE is an exciting new initiative that will encourage students to lead a team and develop Pastoral activities and student-led assemblies throughout the year. The IGNITE team will inspire, motivate and empower Yr 10 to take action, make a change and understand relevant issues facing Yr 10 and the wider Redlands community. A sign-up form has been sent to all students.
Chapel Goes Live
Last Friday, Yr 10 were able to experience Chapel virtually for the first time through a live stream from St Peters Chapel to Redlands Hall. Thank you to the following Yr 10 students who assisted with the live stream broadcast and participation with the singing and the instrumental music: Lauren Hill, Jamison Houchell, Sarah Kumpulainen, Hannah Mitchell, Jacob Rieser and Annie Zhang (Yr 9).
